We’re raising money to make an album of the Xmas Factor: All Stars!
In our fourth Xmas Factor focus, we look at two more songs that have made the All Stars: the Millenial Santa Baby, “Holliday Hookup” and a look at Christmas through the eyes of Jesus’ dad, “Joseph’s Lullaby”.
“Holiday Hookup’ is a musical tribute to classical Christmas jazz numbers like ‘Santa Baby’ and ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’, but with more of a modern take on romance and sex, penned by writer Eden Tredwell.
Eden is a young songwriter, working in both pop and commercial fields, as well as musical theatre. After graduating from the BA Songwriting degree at the Institute of Contemporary Musical Performance in 2015, she has been working with pop artists and producers and recently had her first release with Universal Music.
But as a lifelong musical theatre nerd, she has also collaborated with Perfect Pitch, CSSD and is a member of the BML workshop, as well as working on her own musical.
Here’s what Eden had to say:
I loved being a finalist in the competition last year, having a great night as well as meeting fellow writers.
I’d love to see the Xmas Factor album get made – it would be a personal win, but also a collective win for musical theatre writers. Also, in a world where every Christmas you hear the same 20 songs on repeat, we could use some variety! Please please donate, you won’t regret hearing these touching, witty, and in my case filthy Christmas songs.
Left holding the baby. The child’s not even his.
A bewildered young refugee tries to make sense of it all.
His name is Joseph.
“Joseph’s Lullaby” was the Audience Award runner-up at Xmas Factor 2013, and is written by Sandy Callaghan-Hooks.
Sandy Callaghan-Hooks works as a music teacher and songwriter. She has written and recorded three albums and had songs signed and published by ICC Records. A former member of the advanced Book Music and Lyrics writers class (c/o Mercury Music) Sandy is responsible for 2 productions of Christmas The Musical 2012, 2014 at The Supernova, Victoria Embankment, WC1 and Anno Domini which was showcased at the Actors Church Covent Garden last December with director Israel Oyelumade.
These are just three of the plethora of songs at this year’s Xmas Factor: All Stars, and all of them will appear on the album if we can raise the money to make it! If you would like to support us then click here, and make sure you get your tickets before they’re all gone here!
